The Distinctive Nurseries Story

Not everyone has time to go to numerous stores to find just the right bedding. Those who work or even those in cities that don’t have baby boutiques (or at least a good choice of more than 1) are not finding what they really want. I was both of those people. While San Antonio is a larger metropolitan area, in 2001 when I was searching to find the right nursery bedding for my first baby, I realized that there was only 1 or 2 boutiques to shop in- and of course neither were located within 20 minutes of my house. Working full time, I didn’t have the time to find to go across town. I found my bedding, finally, online, but I was still limited in what I was finding in one place.

Distinctive Nurseries was created in June 2002 when my daughter, Irina, was born with an extremely rare disease called Mastocytosis. She is the inspiration behind our company. I had the desire and determination and now I had found a passion- in both her condition coupled with what I found lacking: a good choice of baby bedding and room décor online  – all in 1 spot.

We began with just 3 bedding lines and have slowed expanded to over 20 baby bedding lines and numerous baby gift and children’s artwork lines. My vision is to give you the best service along with the best selection of high quality merchandise at the best prices possible. We will continue to add unique and exclusive gift items to our offerings. While we may not add on every single item that someone presents to us, know that what we do sell is good quality- otherwise, you won’t see it on our site.

Another little thing that is different about us: we love to speak with our customers and assist you. While internet shopping has it’s perks (you know.. surfing for that perfect bedding at 2am!), it can also be impersonal. We don’t outsource our customer service department to a call center where “agents” are standing by 24×7-we fully train each our representatives in our business – you won’t ever get a canned answer. I still frequently answer sales and service calls so I keep in touch with our customers. And, if we don’t know the answer to your question,  we will call our supplier and ask them and get you an answer.

We strive to “wow” you. We believe that the difference in getting okay service or great service is the key to making our business continue to grow and bring you the best products so you can create the nursery of your dreams.
